The Embassy of Netherlands Visit

This day 4 gentlemen came to our area. They are Mr Jaap van der Velden, Mr Laurence Brahm (?), Paul van Hofwegen (?) and Mr Ilham Abla. The first two were officers from the Embassy of Netherlands and the rest were from Worldbank. Their objective was to see their project in supporting our activity on water resources conservation. We met them in the house of Bupati Kebumen at 09.30. They were accompanied by Mrs Indra Kertati, the leader of LPPSP which responsible on conducting the project. I was accompanied by Haryono. Mr Nashiruddin the Bupati welcomed us and we had talk for a while.

After gathering in the house we visited Desa Somagede and Desa Kenteng in Kabupaten Kebumen to see what had been done by the local people on receiving 'capacity building' and money from Worldbank. In Desa Somagede we saw pathway and groynes. While in Desa Kenteng we saw 2 strips of parapet and a water supply system. We also had lunch in Desa Kenteng. The local people had prepared frugal and delicious food.

The second visit was to Desa Gebang and Desa Pakem in Kabupaten Purworejo. People on those two desas had also received the same thing. In Desa Gebang we saw women handicrafting while in Desa Pakem we saw a new built water supply system.

This morning I woke up before dawn. It was so hot and humid. I did morning walking after praying. I bought lozenges for my cough and papaya for my breakfast. In the office we did a ceremony to appreciated the national hero. This day was the Hero Day. We also prepared some snacks to welcome our guests from Embassy of Netherlands and Worldbank but they postponed to come by. They directly went to the house of Bupati Kebumen.
