Going to Balikpapan

It was Wednesday. In the morning I joined the family for early breakfast. I consumed mangga for the first food. The main course was just rice and chicken soup.

At 07:50 I was rush going to the airport. Rahutama accompanied me. There was traffic jam so I was so tensed. Fortunately, at 08:10 we arrived at the airport. Rahutama dropped me there. I checked in at 08:20. It was the boarding time. I directly boarded on the Boeing 737-500 Sriwijaya Air flight number SJ224 seat 26D. It took off at 09:00. The flight was as scheduled. At 09:30 it landed at Juanda Airport of Surabaya.

My trip continued to Balikpapan but I had to wait in the airport more than an hour. I boarded at 11:00 (the schedule was 10:00) in the Boeing 737-500 Sriwijaya flight number SJ252 seat 12D. At 11:30 the plane took off and at 13:45 it landed on the Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Airport of Balikpapan.

After checking out I went to the toll road investor in the Taman Vinolia Housing Block P1 number 9. Priyonggo sent me the location so the taxi I ride was able to trace the location. I then joined the team in a meeting with the contractor there. The team members were Priyonggo (team leader), Kunto, Imam, Tjitroseno, Hari, Edo, Rizki, and me. We were involved in discussion till maghrib time, 18:15.

Going to the Laboratory

It is Tuesday. In the morning we still maintained our early breakfast. After apple 🍎 I just consumed egg and bitter cucumber.

At 10:20 I went to the lab to get documents to be brought to Balikpapan. According to the discussion in the Whatsapp group a team would go to Balikpapan to joined a meeting and I was one of the members. I had to prepared my matters. I met Pranoto there. Until I went home I did not get an additional matters.

Being at Home

It is Monday. I planned to go to the Laboratory to discuss with Pranoto. However, later he told me that he would not go there instead he accompanied his wife checking in the Kariadi Hospital. So, I cancelled my plan and still being at home.

Seeing the Toll Road Project

It is Sunday. We got up at 03:00, little bit late compare to what we expected. However, we maintained time so at Imshak time (04:13) we had finished our breakfast.

In the afternoon I went to Ngaliyan area to see the progress of Semarang - Batang Toll Road project. I found that 2 overpasses had been constructed and operated. I passed through them. The road was still under construction. It seemed that the side ditch had to bear the runoff from an enough wide catchment area. I then withdrew money from the Karanganyu BNI Bank ATM. Then, I went to the Germany Clock Shop on Jalan Pemuda. I fixed my wristwatch. It costed Rp25.000. In Johar area I found that the Dugderan vendors still occupied the side walk area and the lanes of the street.

The First Day of Fasting

It is Saturday. It is the day one of the Ramadan 1438 Hijrah. We were fasting. We got up early in the morning to have sahur an early breakfast before Subuh (dawn) time. Nuri made me steamed carrot and baked chicken for me. I consumed them with tomato sauce and mayonnaise. The fore food was always fruit. She prepared apple for me. Nuri, Anindya, Rahutama, and Bibik consumed usual dishes. It consisted of rice, fried corn, and vegetable.

This day I was still at home. I washed my old shoes since they were dirty of used during in Balikpapan. Sleeping in the afternoon was usual activity because we got sleepy.

In the afternoon at 17:30 we broke the fasting. Nuri provided cocktail for us. She also provided young jack fruit curry for dinner. Lanjutannya...

Exhausting Day

It is Friday. In the morning I was still at home. I joined the Friday prayer in the Masjid Attaqwa.

At 13:00 I joined a meeting at the office of the Water Resources and Spatial Planning Agency. It discussed 2 points: draft Governor Regulation on Hydrology Information System and management of hydrology information system. The participants were Suhartono, Agus, Agung, Sugeng, Sutrisno, Handoyo, and a guy. We successfully agreed all matters.

On Maghrib a guy named Victor came to clarify drawings of drainage system. I just gave him the global principle on designing drainage system.

Being at Home

It was Thursday. It was the public holiday to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. I walked along the sidewalk in the perimeter of the West Flood Canal. On arriving at home I directly washed my clothes and dried them exposing on sun. The day was so hot. I believed they would dry soon.

At 11:00 by a Gojek bike I went to the hospital to visit Dastan. The operator was Sukarno. It costed Rp3.000. I gave a tip of Rp2.500.

Dastan was in the Garuda Pavilion room 311. In the room I met Mr. and Mrs. Djoni, Anindya, Nuri, Ailin, and Bibik. Dastan was holded by Mrs. Djoni. He looked so weak, still in anaesthesia condition. However, he looked healthy. At 12:30 I, Nuri, Ailin, and Bibik left the others.

Going Back to Semarang

It is Wednesday. I went to the office little earlier than usual because I kept my word to meet a man from the contractor. I had breakfast in the Satu Hati warung tegal. I arrived at the office in the same time with Darul, the man from the contractor. We discussed the median drain dimension. It took short time and I agree with the drawing.

At 09:00 Pranoto came. We talked for a while about the drainage scheme. At 11:30 Benny arrived. We then discussed about the same things. He decided to change the sorts and dimensions of crossdrains. At 13:30 we left the office for the airport. A driver from the office drove me there.

We took the route of Cawang - Semanggi - the Airport. The traffic was congested at several points. We were so anxiety. At 17:00 we arrived at the airport. We were still allowed to check in although our time was less than 45 minutes to fly. As matter of fact, our flight JT514 schedule to board at 17:20 was delayed about 30 minutes. At about 18:15 we boarded in the Boeing 737-900ER. I told Nuri to fetch me at 19:45, an hour and 30 minutes after boarding. I got seat number 6F. At 19:15 I was in the baggage claim room. My arrival was faster than that I expected. Nuri, Dastan, Ailin, and Bibik fetched me. At about 20:00 I arrived at home.

At 22:00 Dastan was moved to the Kariadi Hospital. It was suspected that he filled a small thing in his nose. He need to be in observation. So, he was hospitalized. Anindya accompanied him being overnight in the hospital. Lanjutannya...

Meetings

It is Tuesday. In the morning I had papaya for my breakfast. I went to the office with a ride of Hari.

As usual a weekly meeting was managed in the office at 10:30. The meeting mostly discussed additional land acquisition for the road. The investor (represented by Usodo and Bandung) seriously wanted to cope with it quickly. The contractor (represented by Darul) seemed to wait. The designer (Benny) tried to offer a solution. I left the meeting with Benny's permission. I thought the matters were nothing to do with me. I went to the guesthouse to put the camera.

At 12:15 I went to the PT Transasia Consultant on Jalan Tebet Timur IIIA to meet Mahardi and Lutfi. New colleagues were introduced, Irwan and Cecep. After lunch we went to IMIP office on the 41st floor of Wisma Mulia. We welcomed by their officer, Iwan and suis. A meeting was then managed.

It was like a progress meeting. Irwan presented our progress report and Iwan also talked about their ideas. At about 17:00 the meeting concluded. We dismissed.

I got on a Busway bus leading to Semanggi. At Semanggi I transferred the bus leading to Kota. The buses were full. I was standing but then getting a seat. At Harmoni I dropped off and went to the LionAir office. I rescheduled my ticket.

My ticket was rescheduled from JT504 to JT514 on the same day. The original flight costed Rp315.000 and the reschedule cost was Rp411.600. My ticket price was now Rp726.600.

Because of feeling starved I ordered ketupat sayur to a street vendor. I consumed it on the sidewalk. It was cool.

By a Busway bus leading to Cililitan I went back to the guesthouse. At Cawang stop I transferred to a bus leading to Kampung Rambutan. This bus was full, I was standing, I felt of going to faint but fortunately I was still survived 😁. At the Kampung Rambutan terminal I ordered a Gojek bike to take me to the guesthouse. It is Monday. Today my breakfast was just papaya. I felt good till my lunch came. My lunch was good gado. I expected an egg in the gado gado but it was none. I consumed an egg when I had dinner.

In the office I made a list of comparation between cross drains on the plan drawing and on my recommendation. I delivered to Beni.

Going Back to Jakarta

It is Sunday. In the morning I chatted and had breakfast with Mahardi. Erna went out to join the office event. Teta and Faris were at home. Firda were not. Our chatting was about the tourism and air transportation. At 09:00 I asked Mahardi to drop me at the Leuwipanjang Terminal.

At 10:00 I was in a Primajasa bus for Cililitan Pool. At 10:00 the bus left for Cililitan. I was on the seat just behind the driver. We traced Jakarta Cikampek Bandung toll road. The traffic was relatively fluent although at several points it was congested. At about 13:10 we arrived at the Primajasa Pool on Jalan Sutoyo. I had lunch in a sundanese food kiosk in front of the pool. Then, I ordered a Gojek bike. Jamaludin, the bike operator, dropped me at the office.

Going Back to Jakarta

It is Friday. We still had breakfast in the hotel although the officers offer to get it in another place. Seta joined us but only in breakfast. He would go to Surabaya at 08:00. We separated in the hotel. Seta went to the airport and we went to East Belitung.

We went to the east for about an hour to find Andrea Hirata and Ahok's childhood place. On the way we stopped by at a kaolin mining place. It had become a pond. It is named as Kaolin Pond. We then continued to Gantong Subdistrict. The first point was the replica of Muhammadiyah Gantong Elementary School, a school discribed by Andrea Hirata in his novel Laskar Pelangi. The replica was very simple, only a small class with about 8 desks. However, it has encouraged the economic life of the area. Museum Kata was then the next point. It was a simple wide house with a lot of words written on the wall. There was a coffee shop inside and I enjoyed the coffee, Kopi Kuli or Collie Coffee. We were still in Gantong. The last destination was the Kampung Ahok, named after a Melayu styled house with a lot of things about Ahok (former Jakarta Governor). I did not enter it. The house was located exactly in front of the Ahok's family house. We did not go to Manggar, the capital of East Belitung District. Instead, we went back to Tanjungpandan.

We had lunch in the Timpo Duluk Resto. However, I went to the Masjid Jamiek Hidayatullah in front of the resto to join Friday Prayer. After praying I joined the others in the resto for lunch. I though

We thought that our flight was at departure of 15:00. In fact, it was 13:15 departure. Kanti was reminded by the operator (Sriwijaya Air) manager. So, we rushed to the airport. At 13:10 we arrived at the airport and fortunately, we were allowed to board. At about 13:30 Sriwijaya Air Flight number SJ055 took off for Jakarta. I was on seat 27F. We landed at about 14:30. I directly checked out of the Sukarno Hatta Airport to get a Damri Airport bus. At the Kampung Rambutan Terminal I got off and ordered a Gojek bike. Heru, the operator, drove me to the office. Island Hopping

It is Thursday. We had breakfast in the hotel hotel. They menu was various enough. I just consumed pecel salad, omelette, and coffee. At 08:00 we ready to go. Ilham and Soni were also ready to serve us.

Today's excursion was named Island Hopping. It consisted of tracing islands on the west side of the Belitung Island. They were Batulayar, Pasir, Lengkuas, Kepayang, and Burung islands. We started from the Tanjung Kelayang (Kelayang Cape). We got on board of a small boat from this point. The Batulayar island is a small island having granite stones like sails. The Pasir is a very small island that only emerges at low tide. The island was very clean. The Lengkuas Island where the others did snorkeling. I waited for them a the boat. We did not land on the Lengkuas Island where a lighthouse locates because the other members were starved and needed to eat. We landed on the Kepayang Island to have lunch. The tour operator served us with the tasty seafood. Then, we went to be close to the Pulau Burung Garuda to see the granite stones stand like an eagle. It was the end of the hopping. We landed on the cape. The others changed their clothes and then we left for Tanjungpandan.

We met Seta in the Mak Putri Pempek Kiosk. We consumed pempek there. It was tasty. Tatik, etc ordered to buy pempek for tomorrow. Then, we went to the Kongdjie coffee shop at the original place to get some packs. Unfortunately, they had run out of them. They suggested to seek to another Kongdjie shop. We got it in the shop at Jalan Sriwijaya.

In the evening we had dinner at the Unique Bistro & Karaoke. We served with various and very tasty sea food. Thank to the officers of the Satker Jalan Belitung. Indah and Anna gave his sing to the audience. They were on stage. Lanjutannya...

Going to Belitung

It is Wednesday. The Red-9 Wednesday-7 (Rabu Pahing 16). In the morning at 07:30 I left the guesthouse for the Kampung Rambutan bus terminal. I stopped by at Warung Tegal Satuhati for having breakfast. Then, by a Gojek bike I arrived at the terminal. It costed Rp8.000. I directly got on a Damri Airport bus. It brought me to the airport.

On arriving at the Terminal 2F I directly checked in. The flight was Sriwijaya Air flight ✈ number SJ054 scheduled to be boarding at 11:05 from the gate F4. In the waiting room I met Kanti, Yudi, Risna, Anna, Indah, and Adiati. We boarded at about 11:15.

At 11:45 the Sriwijaya Air Boeing 737-500 took off for Tanjung Pandan, the Island of Belitung. I was on seat 23F and Kanti etc were on the row 24. We landed on the Hananjuddin Airport at about 12:45. Ilham and Soni fetched us with 2 cars. They are employees of National Road Authority (Ditjen Bina Marga) in duty in Belitung. Thank Seta for his influence mobilizing them. We went to the MaxOne Hotel for checking in. I got room 201, the others were in rooms 202 and 203.

We went to the first point of interest, Mi Atep. It was a kiosk selling a Belitung styled of gravied chaomian. The dish was about that of Keling styled in Medan but the gravy was made from shrimps. We all liked it.

The next point was Tanjung Tinggi Beach where we enjoy the scenery of clean sand and artistic naturally occurring granite stones. We took pictures of me and the scene. On the beach we also enjoyed young coconut offered by vendors.

We then came to the Kong Djie (光儿) coffee shop in the original place. We enjoyed coffee and baked bread.

Being in the Office

It is Tuesday. In the morning at 05:15 the train arrived at the Gambir station. After praying I ordered a Gojek car. At about 07:00 I arrived at the guesthouse.

After having rest for a while I prepared myself to go to the office. I stopped by at a warung tegal nearby.

The engineers were complete. We were scheduled to join weekly meeting but it was postponed because the guy in charge had to go somewhere. So, we managed an internal meeting.

I was in the office till the time of isha. After isha praying I went back to the guesthouse. I stopped by at another warung tegal for dinner. I also dropped by at an Alfamart shop to buy water. Lanjutannya...

Going to Jakarta

It was Monday. It was exhausting day. In the morning at 09:00 I went to the Pandanaran public health center. I wanted to change the polyclinic destination. It changed from 'kulit' to 'bedah plastik'. About 2 hours I was there. To go there and to be back home I ordered Gojek bikes. It costed Rp5.000 each.

Just after arriving at home Edy, Karman, Subroto, and Mulyana came to maintain our friendship. They just took their qualification certificate at the Management Office of Pemali Juana River Basins.

At 12:45 I went to the Lab to meet Pranoto. We discussed matters we found during our toll road trace walk-through. I was there for an hour.

At 16:00 I asked Rahutama to buy train ticket to Jakarta for me. He got it at a discount tariff, 80% of the published rate because my ages has been over than 60 year.

At 23:00 Rahutama dropped me at the Tawang Station. At 23:30 the Argo Bromo Anggrek left Tawang for Gambir stations. I was at coach 5 seat 6C. Lanjutannya...

Being at Home

It is Sunday. In the morning I got up early to remind Nuri of her plan to go. Mbak Poppy also got up early knocking the door to remind her. At 05:00 Nuri and mbak Poppy went to the station accompanied by Rahutama. They would go to Jakarta by train, Argo Sindoro coaches.

Welcoming a Guest

It is Saturday. I slept again after praying. At 07:00 I got up and washed my clothes. The day was shinny so I hoped they would be dry at noon. In the time awaiting them dry I ironed the clothes I had washed a week ago. Then, I slept because I felt so sleepy. At 12:00 I ironed the just dried clothes. At 17:00 I concluded ironing.

At 18:40 I, Nuri, Anindya, Dastan, Aisha, and Bibik went to the Poncol Railway Station to fetch Mbak Poppy. The train was on time so she had to wait for a while till we came. Going Back to Semarang

It was Friday. In the morning I slept again after praying. I felt so exhausted. The house was crowded of people preparing stuff for ruwahan. Ruwahan is a benediction led by a religious leader organized at the Islamic month of Syaban. Syaban is Ruwah, in a Javanese term.

At 08:00 I accompanied Mahardi to a place around Pendem Ngadirejo to see a piece of land. We met the owner. A short talk was occured but not came to a deal. On the way to the family house we stopped by a soto soup kiosk for having breakfast.

At 12:00 I joined the Friday prayer in the Masjid As-Shafi. I, Priyono, and Mahardi went there by walking.

At 16:00 the Ruwahan benediction was conducted. The leader was Paklik Mustofa. About 35 people gathered in the session. I recognized some of them but I did not most of them.

At 22:45 I, Nuri, Asri, and Fitri left the house for Semarang. Priyono had left previously at 15:00. At Pingit area we found the traffic jam. There was a road rehabilition. We had to pass in turn. At 00:45 we arrived at home after dropping Fitri and Asri at Asri's house. Lanjutannya...

Going to Jogja

It is Thursday. In the morning we had breakfast at the first floor. This hotel was awesome, the service was beyond the tariff. The breakfast menu was lot of variety.

At 09:00 we Nico at the lobby. He and his assistant came to have consultation about the median surface road. At 10:40 they gave us a ride to the Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman airport of Balikpapan. We directly checked in. I checked flight number GA664 leading to Jogja while Pranoto checked in the Garuda flight number GA leading to Jakarta. He would connect his flight to Semarang.

At 12:40 the Bombardier CRJ1000NG Garuda flight number 664 took off for Jogja. I was in the cabin on seat number 39K. The cabin was narrow so I did not fell good. An infant was crying before taking off making me missing my grandchildren. At 13:20 local time the plan was landed on the Adisutjipto Airport of Jogja. After catching my baggage I went to the Damri Airport bus terminal. About an hour I waited for the bus. At 14:30 the bus departed for Magelang. The tariff was Rp50.000. About 90 minutes we were on road and at 15:45 the bus arrived at the Wisata Hotel Magelang. It was the terminal of Damri bus. I waited there for about 10 minutes in the coffee shop till Nuri arrived for picking up me. We went to the Endang Jaya shop to pick up Esti and Peni. Then, we went to Salaman, to the big family house.

Survey the Day Three

It is Wednesday. In the morning we had breakfast in the hotel. At 07:30 Anwar came to fetch us to survey. At 08:30 we came to the office of Wika Contractor at kilometer 38. We met Nicolaus and we involved a brief discussion. At about 09:00 we went to the field.

There were several points of cross drains we found. The first point was 77+759. It is in Palaran swampy area. We skipped Palaran River at 77+388 because we have too deep to enter the bush. We took long track to came to 76+700, 75+771,75+628, 74+435, 74+383 that should be united to 74+435, 74+100 (and unite to 73+950), 73+237, 72+550 (unite to 72+510), 72+275. We did not find 71+995 (unite to 72+050). Then, we took long to come to 70+997. Point 70+750 could unite to 70+997. The point 70+175 is beside mining road. At beside the other mining road, point 69+691 was removed to Balikpapan side. At the end we came to 69+655.

We then paid our prayer in a masjid in Bantuas, had late lunch in a padangese resto nearby, and got ready to go back to the hotel.

Survey the Day Two

It is Tuesday. In the morning at 07:00 I and Pranoto had been ready for survey. We had breakfast in the hotel. At 07:30 Anwar fetched me for going. We went to Samarinda. We stopped by at a warung about kilometer 50 to enable the driver dropping workers at the site.

We surveyed today starting from a zoo. It is STA . There would be an overpass here. Then, we went to STA 80+843, 81+057, and 81+600 We had lunch in a warung named Barokah. I consumed patin fish head soup. We continued to STA At about 17:00 we went back to Balikpapan. We stopped by at a public fueling station to enable driver picking up workers. Survey the Day One

It was Monday. In the morning after having breakfast with a half piece of a bun I checked out of the hotel. I with the help of the hotel ordered the taxi. I then went to the Wika's project office at the kilometer 38. It took about 90 minutes. I arrived at the place at 08:50 local time. I paid off the cost, Rp250.000. About 30 minutes I waited for Anwar. He came with a 4 whell drive pick up.

We directly went to the location at the cross drains of the 3rd section of the Balikpapan Samarindah Toll Road. They were stations of 63+346, 63+961, 64+212, 64+475, 64+660, 65+123, 65+175, and 65+838. We skipped several cross drains because of access difficulties and came to the stations of 69+255 (new found), 69+550, and 69+929.

We had lunch in a warung and rest and prayer in a masjid around Bantuas area. Then, we continued to survey. At about 15:30 we stopped surveying. We went to a point on kilometer 38. We fetched geodetic surveyors.

Going to Balikpapan

It is Sunday. In the morning I got up early for getting ready to go. At 07:00 Nuri dropped me at the airport. At 08:00 I was on seat number 9C in the Lionair Boeing 737-800NG fligt number JT624 taking off for Balikpapan. It was an ontime flight so, at 10:30 local time it landed on the Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Airport of Balikpapan. After making coordination with Anwar I made reservation to a hotel. It was the Whiz Prime Hotel for Rp275.000. An airport taxi of costing Rp70.000 brought me to the hotel. After waiting for a while, at 12:30 I checked in the room 321. It was a single room. As usual the room was narrow but clean.

At 13:30 I was out for lunch. A padangese resto nearby seemed good for it. It was. I spent Rp22:000 just for the simple but fair tasty meal. On the back to the hotel I stopped by at an Alfa Midi shop for getting bread, water, and peanut. I also topped up my cellular phone pulse.

In the evening I wanted to be out again but I did not because it was showering. I had a half of the bread for dinner. Lanjutannya...

Having Guest

It is Saturday. In the morning I walked along the perimeter of West Flood Canal. At the Basudewo street I found that the traffic direction was from south to north. I felt not safe to walk at the same direction. As usual I finished my walked before 50 minutes.

At arriving at home I washed my clothes. I expected a guest so I did not dry them in front of the home. I hanged them at the backyard.

At 09:00 the expected guest, Hendro (SI TTB74), came to get my suggestion according to his plan to join the Tol Balsam project. About an hour we talked. I did not give him suggestion, instead, I gave him description of the project.

Delivering Condolence

It is Friday. In the morning at 05:30 I dropped Rahutama at the Banyumanik Bus stop. He would go to Jogjakarta. At 08:00.

I went to Plamongan Indah, Jalan Kelapagading Raya to deliver my condolence to the family of Anton Sudjarwanto. He passed away yesterday in a hospital. He was quite long suffering colon cancer. I joined the corpse prayer in a masjid nearby. I met my colleagues such us Wartono, Hidayat, Zaenal, Nidhom, Wulan, and Djumono

Then, I went to the lab to direct Tyo conducting several works. One of them was to print plan profiles.

Going Back to Semarang

It is Thursday. In the morning I packed almost all of my stuff into the suitcase. At 08:30 I ordered a Gojek bike to ride me to the office. In the office several colleagues had arrived, such as Supardji.

I finished the report as I could. I delivered it to Arcana. From Gugun I received softcopy of plan profile. From I'i I got contour drawing and mixed drawing.

At 13:30 I left the office for the airport. A Gojek car (a Bluebird taxi actually) brought me there. The cost was Rp151.000. It was debited to my Gopay account. At 15:00 I arrived at the Terminal 1A of the airport.

I directly went to the Lion check-in counter. I got seat number 32F. I would be boarding at 16:20 from the Gate A14.

Unfortunately, the Lion Air flight number JT514 was delayed till 17:30. I boarded at about 17:10. The Boeing 737-900ER Lionair flight number JT514 took off at 17:50. At 18:35 it landed on the Ahmad Yani airport of Semarang. Rahutama picked me up home. Lanjutannya...

Joining a Meeting

It is Wednesday. At 05:00 I arrived at the Gambir Station. A half hour later I was in a Grab car going to the office. At 06:30 I dropped off at the office. I paid off the car Rp70.000. I added it with Rp10.000 for the tip.

After having the key from Okhi I went to the guesthouse walking. I then laid on bed for sleeping.

At 08:30 I went to the office. I stopped by at a warung tegal for breakfast.

At 14:00 I joined the meeting in the office. It was not significant for me but the meeting was attended by Bigman and Sahril, my old time colleagues.

At 19:30 after isha prayer in the office I went back to the guesthouse. I stopped by at a warung padang for dinner. I also entered an Alfa Mart shop to buy bottled water and roasted peanuts. Lanjutannya...

It is Tuesday. In the morning I joined qigong in the temple hall. The participants were 11 people. I only joined the chenqi and pengqi guanding sessions.
